The traditional college route doesn't suit me and I want to become an X-ray technician but can't seem to locate the programs where I am able to accomplish this can anyone please direct me to a website or phone number where I can get help?
The only way to become a radiologic technologist (the proper term for a x-ray tech) is to attend and graduate from an accredited RT program. You cannot take your licensing exams without completion of an accredited program. Without your license, you cannot legally do x-rays. If you cannot legally do x-rays, nobody will hire you to do this job. Most RT programs are at least 24 months, 40 hours a week.
You can find an accredited RT program at this site. Just search "radiography" and your state...links are provided which will give you additional information on each program (cost, duration of program, contact person):

You can become a limited permit tech, for example, get licensed to do just chest x-rays or just extermities, but I wouldn't waste my time, energy or money on such a program. Most limited permit techs work in orthopedic offices, as hospitals only hire fully licensed RTs. Most work environments require you to be able to any and all exams. I have never worked for a facility which hired limited permit techs.
